ShopStack POS started as work for one client and became a product because the next four asked for the same thing. It is used in production by businesses that would notice within an hour if it stopped working, which is the only test of this kind of software that means anything.

Yes — installation is a fixed fee, and the installer walks you through it if you would rather do it yourself.
What happens when support runs out?
Downloads and updates carry on for life. Only the support window expires, and it can be renewed.
